Balham Church photographs - interior views of church

Interior photography of Balham Church

This photograph was commissioned by Rosehill Ltd, suppliers of church furniture, as part of their portfolio of finished projects. The church was in Balham, London, and was of traditional victorian style and architecture, and had had the original pews removed and new seating installed. My job, as interior architectural photographer, was to photograph the arrangement of seating, in this case attractive green chairs, in the best possible way. From experience of working in large high roofed old structures, I realised that a lot of extra flash lighting was required in order to pick out the details of the chairs, and used several concealed flash units in the photograph. The other consideration was that in photographing multiple chairs, it is imperitive that they are arranged neatly and in a well ordered way, otherwise one or two chairs out of line will spoil the photograph.
