Interior and exterior images of Woodchurch School, Wirral
These photographs of Woodchurch School, Wirral were commissioned by Kier Northern for advertising and publicity purposes and has taken two years to complete. This stunning building opened in September 2010 and was designed by architects Building Design Partnership.
There are many interesting features of this design which are conducive to creative photography, and show off the building in a most favourable light. The library, pictured here, comprises a lower and an upper level with full height roof,
and has floor to ceiling windows. The photographs were taken on a bright sunny day, allowing the sunshine to cascade in and create interesting shadows on the floor and wall. The bright sunshine and dark shadows inside have to be photographed with additional lighting to balance to contrasts of natural light and shade.
The full height windows continue into the refectory area which was built in a curve.
This photograph shows one of the staircases and has been lit with a combination of overhead roof lighting, ambient light fromlower wondows and also several concealed flash units.
