Installation images of concrete bridge in Shropshire
During the devastating floods in the Midlands and Wales in 2009, a road bridge in Cressage near Shrewsbury was washed away. It was replaced by a new pre-cast concrete flexible arched system which allows the bridge to form a traditional 'load-bearing' arch without the need for a temporary framework for support.
We were commissioned to supply construction photographs of the first beams being craned off and installed by clients Dew Construction who were managing the project. The system arrives as 'flat-packed' beams on a lorry and as pictured here, when lifted by a single crane, centres under its own weight.
This particular bridge was made up of six arched concrete beams craned in separately, installed side by side, fixed into place and then faced with pre-cast concrete side panels.
