Series of industrial images illustrating steel processes for Howco Metal Management

The Howco Group is one of the largest processors and distributors of steel in the world operating in seven countries with facilities in fourteen locations, supplying to the oil and gas industries worldwide. We were commissioned to shoot a series of photographs depicting the many forms of steel processing. This picture shows the cutting process

The challenge with photographic jobs like this for the photographer is usually ensuring that the operatives and environment comply with health and safety requirements, showing the working surroundings to be clean and clutter-free, hunting down power sockets and most importantly, lighting it sufficiently and creatively to provide an interesting image.

The above image is of an ultrasonic testing on a machined ring. This tests for any imperfections such as surface cracks or internal defects to make sure the material is approved for use. Further images of various steel processes below;
