Industrial photography at Howco Group, steel processing company in Sheffield.

This series of industrial photographs was commissioned by clients Howco Group in Sheffield and was shot for their website and for promotional publications. The Howco Group has as its core business, materials management and is one of Europe’s largest processors and distributors of speciality steels.

As with any serious Industrial Photography commission, the photography had to be carefully considered and well-planned. The work comprised a mixture of machinery, stockyard photographs and images of the test labs, portrayed here. Lighting is paramount with industrial shoots and dark factory environments need much additional studio flash lighting to enhance the subject enough for machinery and operatives to stand out from what is usually a dark, dingy background.
