Commercial photography of Museum in The Victoria Building Liverpool
Interior architectural photography of Victoria Building Museum Liverpool
This photograph was taken just prior to the new musuem in the Victoria Building Liverpool, being opened. The building had previously been the dental and medical faculty at Liverpool University but had been refurbished and been adapted into being a medical museum.
It was commissioned by Kier NW and this kind of photographic assignment provides somewhat of a challenge to the architectural photographer. There was a very high vaulted ceiling and plenty of dark varnished wood, so beloved by the Victorians! All this makes life very difficult when shooting interiors of period architecture as extra lighting is required and plenty of it. Additional flash units were used to light the ceiling.
The rather ghostly skeleton of the horse in the foreground contrasts well against the very dark interior.
