Photographs of Hong Kong buildings by night
Architectural photography at night of Hong Kong
There have been many photographs taken of the Hong Kong skyline as it is very picturesque and conducive to good interesting architectural photography. This picture was one of several photos taken in Hong Kong from the smokers balcony of the Excelsior Hotel on the 34th floor.
The Hong Kong skyline is very recognisable, much like New York, as there are many tall skyscrapers which are all lit up at night all over the city and photograph very well. A good example of night photography of architecture has to be shot before darkness falls, at dusk, so that there is still detail in the tops of the buildings and the sky should be a luminous shade of blue rather than black.
As night photography like this is shot with a tripod and on a time exposure there is a risk that some of the well lit areas may well be over exposed, and there is often a trade-off against under exposing the darker areas, so it is usually best to shoot several exposures to get the best one.
