This photograph shows the attractive and award winning canopied area of the new Liverpool One shopping centre in the heart of Liverpool. The feature canopy in the photograph serves to both keep the bright sun off the shoppers and also protect them from the rain. The cross hatched effect of the canopy struts throws interesting shapes and shadows on to the ground and requires a tripod for the photography as it creates a darker shadowed area. It is a photograph that looks better when the sun is shining.

The whole area which has become very popular with both shoppers and diners, contains a wealth of small and larger shops as well as a variety of bars, restaurants and cafes. If there are too many people about, say, at a weekend, this type of retail centre photography becomes very difficult as the picture becomes too populated and difficult to see any of the architectural details and features that normally photograph so well.
