The Hair Gallery Broadbottom Client Bernard Taylor Partnership, Stockport

This photograph of the interior of the Hair Gallery, a hairdressing salon in Broadbottom was shot for clients Bernard Taylor Partnership, an architectural practice in Stockport. The photography was undertaken as part of an award submission and is a good example of the problems facing the internal architectural photographer! There was bright sunshine flooding in from the large windows, but the interior of the salon was quite dimly lit.

The photography was shot with studio flash units in the corner and concealed hand flash guns to balance out the bright daylight. A mixture of daylight, spotlights and fluorescent lamps made up the available 'ambient light' to fill in. The other obstacle was working around the stylists and customers who were also in the salon.
